The news that Meitheal Forbartha na Gaeltacht (MFG) is to close has been described as another crushing blow to the Gaeltacht.
MFG channels both government and EU funding to businesses and community organisations across the Gaeltacht throught a number of schemes including the Rural Development Programme.
It is claimed the company told staff last evening to leave their keys and go home as there would be no work for them to come back to in the morning.
A number of schemes supported by MFG, including some Donegal school bus services which are not operating today.
