It’s been claimed that there could be death or serious injury if something isn’t done to address the issue of derelict buildings in Ramelton.
Local Councillor Ian McGarvey has raised the issue and claims that it is only a matter of time before falling debris or slates injure someone.
The issue was raised at this week council meeting and the debate was broadened to discuss what action the council is taking across the county to address the issue of derelict buildings and sites.
There is a derelict sites act which can give the council powers to buy or force owners to repair derelict buildings, however to date the act has yet to be enforced in a single case.
