Garda knocked down and injured in Letterkenny

A young woman garda was knocked down and injured by a suspected drunk driver in Letterkenny on Friday.
The female garda injured in yesterday’s  incident was responding in a patrol car to a report of a suspected drunk driver on the Ballymacool estate in Letterkenny at 3 p.m.
She stepped out on to the road when she saw the suspect car and signalled the driver to stop.
The car collided with her and she sustained injuries. Garda sources said she was treated for a hand injury in Letterkenny General Hospital and then discharged.
A man arrested at the scene was charged with dangerous driving and drink-driving.
