Donegal IFA say Agriculture Minister has failed major test

The IFA in Donegal says Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney has failed his first major test.
Details of the latest Agri-Environment Options Scheme were unveiled last evening, but Donegal IFA Chairman PJ Mc Monagle says there are serious questions over places and funding. The maximum available to each participant has been cut to by 20% to €4,000, and PJ Mc Monagle says many farmers will questions if it’s worth it.
He also says around 10,000 farmers are coming out of REPS, but there are likely to be only between seven and eight thousand places available on the AEOS.
Mr Mc Monagle says it isn’t clear what will happen if the scheme is oversubscribed……..
