New report shows that planning commencements in Donegal continue to fall

House constructionThe latest edition of the National Housing Construction Index shows that Donegal continues to report a percentage drop in planning commencements.
The figures were compiled by Link2Plans-dot-com.
The reported examined every housing construction planning application and planning commencement from January to June 2013, in the production of the National Housing Construction Index.
The Index gives a direct comparison with the exact same period in 2012.
Donegal went from having a 7% increase in applications last year, to a drop of -14% this year.
Planning applications made in Donegal decreased from 628 in January to June 2012, to 542 in the same period in 2013.
However the drop in planning commencements fell from last year from -23% to a drop of just -1% drop this year, from 85 in January to June 2012 to 83 in the same period in 2013.
Four counties show significant increases in applications with Dublin witnessing a rise of 7%.  Four counties also show an increase in commencements with Roscommon showing an increase by 41%, Wexford by 19%, Monaghan by 10% and Dublin by 9%.
Despite this, commencements are still down by 14% compared to the previous year.
