Hospital manager says chapel will be retained, but not necessarily in the same location

The Manager of Letterkenny General Hospital has denied that there is an effort being made to remove the Catholic Chapel from the hospital.

A major petition was launched at the weekend seeking to retain the chapel, amid suggestions that the facility which has been closed since last year’s flood would not be replaced.
The Letterkenny General Hospital Chapel Retention Committee is chaired by Fr Eamon Kelly. Speaking on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, he said he believes this reflects a campaign to eradicate religion from the HSE……….


Hospital Manager Sean Murphy says while the chapel may not reopen in its current location, it’s not the case that religion is being removed.
He told the show that a number of options are being examined since the flood, with the chaplaincy team centrally involved in the process……………
