The National Junior and Under 23 Indoor Championships took place in Athlone this weekend, with a number of gold medals returning to the north west.
The first of the gold medals came from Arlene Crossan, in a P.B. of 5.64m.
John Kelly, of Finn Valley A.C. also got gold in the shot put with a throw of 17.68m.
Connell Mahon from Tirconaill A.C. won the triple jump, and the last gold came from Connell’s clubmate Karl Griffin, who competed in the 800m, winning easily in 1 minute 51 seconds.
Other notable performances were from Blaithnaid Patton, Finn Valley and Kate McGowan, Tirconaill AC, and Liam McDevitt, Finn Valley in the 400m.
In the invitational 1500m, Danny Mooney of Letterkenny AC was a convincing winner in a good time of 3.43.85.
