A Donegal County Councillor has claimed 45% of the treated water supply in Donegal is being lost to leaks, and Irish Water will end up charging consumers an 80% premium for water supplied.
According to Councillor Dessie Shiels, a recent Local and Economic Community Plan released to County Councillors has revealed that between 2008 and 2013, almost half of the supply had been wasted by the time water gets to our taps.
Councillor Shiels says people have a right to be annoyed about the idea of paying for a product that is being effectively lost………….
