Students at schools in Donegal and across the country are marking the first ever Proclamation Day.
It will see the raising of the tricolour at every school and college, and the reading of the 1916 Proclamation by students.
The new annual event is part of the 2016 Centenary programme, and will also feature re-enactments, poetry and music.
Arts Heritage and Gaeltacht Minister Heather Humphreys says the event is about understanding the past and looking towards the future……
