Derry boss Kenny Shiels has targeted a push towards the European qualification places and the top of the league this season.
He issued the challenge following City’s 3-0 home victory over Shamrock Rovers on Friday.
That victory was a result of the commitment shown by the Candystripes’ players, according to their manager.
Shiels described their win, which gives his side 16 points from a potential 21 points after seven games, as immense.
He praised his players’ commitment and the quality of their play and revealed that he believes Derry’s start to the season is better than he was expecting.
