Derry loses out in bid for European Youth Capital status

Derry and Strabane will not be the European Youth Capital in 2019, following confirmation last night that the Novi Sad in Serbia has been awarded the title.
However, the Derry City & Strabane District Councillor who was mayor when the bid was launched says much good work was done from which the city and the region will benefit.
Councillor Elisha McCallion says the work carried out by the council’s team should not be underestimated, and nor should the contributions of over 10,000 young people who participated in the consultation process.
