A leading consultant says the number of patients on trolleys across the country remains a national emergency.
The situation at Letterkenny University Hospital has eased somewhat today with 24 people awaiting admission – 12 of those are on trolleys in the Emergency Department the other 12 are waiting on wards or overflow areas.
Yesterday’s figures from the INMO showed Letterkenny University Hospital returned the joint highest figure at 45, 26 of them on trolleys in the Emergency Department.
The Government has provided 50 million euro to deal with the crisis as part of its winter initiative.
