Second 24 hour INMO strike getting underway today


The Saolta University Health Care Group says today’s industrial action by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation will have a significant impact on patient servies across the groups hospitals.
The industrial action is planned to take place at all public hospitals, healthcare facilities and community healthcare services from 8am this morning until 8am tomorrow morning.
In a statment issued by Saolta, it says they are continuing to work with the INMO on arrangements to ensure safe service provision; however scheduled services have been cancelled.
All Out Patient, Inpatient and Day Surgery appointments are cancelled at all hospitals within the Saolta Hospital Group.
Pickets will be taking place across the country as over 35,000 nurses and midwives strike today.
In Donegal, pickets will be held at Letterkenny University Hospital from 8am to 4pm.
Meanwhile, between 9am and 4pm, pickets will be held outside health centres in Killygordon and Buncrana as well as at Scally House in Letterkenny.
While afternoon pickets will be staged outside nursing units in Falcarragh, Ramelton and community hospitals in Stranorlar, Killybegs, Lifford, Donegal, Dungloe and Carndonagh.
Nurses at Ard na Greinne, Stranorlar and An Clochar HSE Offices, Ballyshannon will also be holding pickets.
