Appeal for witnesses following paramilitary-style shooting in Derry

 

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a paramilitary-style shooting in the Creggan area of Derry.
The incident is believed to have happened shortly after 6pm yesterday evening.
A 35 year old man was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower leg after he was reported to have been shot at the rear of shops in the area of Central Drive.
In a statement Detective Inspector Michael Winters said that it was reported that three masked men were involved in this vicious attack which has left this man with a serious and potentially life changing injury.
He concluded by saying that there is absolutely no justification for this attack and both the community and police must all work together to bring those responsible to justice and to stop this from happening to anyone else.
Anyone who witnessed anything or who may know something about this incident has been urged to contact detectives in Strand Road on 101.
