INMO suspends strike action


This week’s strike action by nurses has been called off.
The Executive Council of the INMO has decided to suspend the strikes, due to begin tomorrow, following a recommendation from the Labour Court.
Nurses will be briefed on the details, before being asked to vote on the proposals.
40,000 nurses and midwives were due to stage three days of industrial action in their dispute over pay and working conditions.
It’s not clear if the issue of pay has been addressed by the Labour Court.
General Secretary of the INMO, Phil Ní Sheaghdha, made the announcement within the past hour:

Meanwhile the Psychiatric Nurses Association which is also due to strike tomorrow, has been called to the Labour Court to hear its recommendation.
Speaking on his way into the hearing, General Secretary Peter Hughes says he hopes it’s positive:
