LUH extremely busy today – Saolta

Letterkenny University Hospital is said to be extremely busy today including the Emergency Department, the Acute Medical Assessment Unit, the Day Surgery Unit and the wards.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the Saolta Hospital Group say it is carrying out additional consultant ward rounds to facilitate early discharges to free up capacity at the hospital today.
People are being encouraged to only attend the ED in the case of a real emergency and to contact their GP or GP-Out-of-Hours service in the first instance.
Saolta says it is a challenging time the hospital but says thanks to the huge efforts of our frontline staff patients are continuing to receive safe care during this period.
