Harps 13s set for first Derry derby
The Finn Harps U13s are getting ready for their first derby clash with Derry City in the inaugural Elite Northern Section of the National League. The game, is actually an fixture for Harps and will take place at the Aileach F.C. grounds tomorrow Saturday (April 13th) with a 2.00 kick-off.
After winning their first game at home against Sligo Rovers, the Harps 13s have lost on the road to both the Mayo Schoolboys League and Monaghan-Cavan but manager Kevin McHugh is not too concerned about the results those two games. One of the key goals at this age-group is learning to play the game in the right way and establishing good habits in terms of positional play and footballing skills.
“Even though we didn’t get anything from our last two games away from home, we have played some really good stuff and created loads of chances. We will be looking for more of the same against Derry on Saturday” McHugh said. The Harps U13s game against Derry City kicks-off in Aileach at 2.00.
Harps U17s home to Bohs
The Finn Harps U17s will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when Declan Boyle’s outfit host Bohemians at the Curragh in Killygordon tomorrow Saturday (April 13th). However, Bohs are a really talented team so it’s going to take a huge performance from the hosts to extend that winning run to four games. Recently, Boyle’s boys have defeated Sligo Rovers (2-0) and last Sunday came from a goal behind to defeat Drogheda Utd 2-1 in an away fixture with Stephen Black and Luke Rudden getting the goals. Kick-off at the Curragh is 2.00.
Joe Boyle’s U19s take on Bohemians
The Finn Harps U19s are on the road tomorrow (Saturday 13th) to take on Bohemians in the Elite Northern Section of the National League. The match will take place at IT Blanchardstown (kick-off 2.00). Joe Boyle’s side has been in fine form recently and recorded an excellent win last weekend over Drogheda Utd at the Curragh in Killygordon.
Jamie Browne, Pat Loughrey and Stephen Doherty were the scorers. However, Boyle knows his players will have to step up their performance levels to get anything from the Bohs fixture.
The manager wont be able to finalise his team until tomorrow as Darragh Ellison, Jack Doherty, Lee M Laughlin and Corey Mc Bride are all included in the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys squad who are in action tonight at Dalymount Park against England in the International Centenary Shield. “It will depend on how much the lads play. I’m hoping that they have no injuries so they can be part of the squad for the Bohs game” Boyle said.
The Harps boss has also noted that Bohemians have started the season in good form. “Bohemians have started the season well and it will be a difficult game for us. We will be making personnel changes, but still hope to have enough to get a result. Niall McGinley has returned following a recent injury and we will have to wait to see if he plays tonight with the first team who are taking on Bohemians at Finn Park before being able to make a decision on him.”
The game has a 2.00 start at IT Blanchardstown.
