The Donegal Road Safety Working Group has issued an appeal to election candidates to be mindful of road safety when erecting posters.
Road Safety Officer Brian O’Donnell says they understand the need for candidates to use posters, but is stressing that putting them up in the wrong location can lead to problems for motorists and pedestrians.
He says vision impairment, obstruction, and distraction are all pitfalls which could lead to a collision.
In particular, Mr O’Donnell is urging candidates not to block existing signs, particularly near roadworks:
