People in Donegal are being urged to apply to the Thatch Repair Grants Scheme.
The scheme is funded by Donegal County Council and the Creative Ireland programme as part of the implementation of the County Donegal Heritage Plan.
It aims to provide specialist advice to owners on the conservation of thatched dwellings while also allocate funding for small-scale repairs.
Heritage Officer with Donegal County Council Joseph Gallagher says the structures have an invaluable role in both heritage and tourism, and says it’s important that the upkeep of them is maintained for future generations:
