Nearly 10,600 investigations into suspected welfare fraud last year

 

The Department of Social Protection launched nearly 10,600 investigations into suspected welfare fraud last year.
More than 82 million euro was also recovered from over 100,000 social welfare recipients in 2019.
114 cases were referred for criminal prosecution, and 85 people were convicted in court over the course of the year.
