The first votes of General Election 2020 will be cast in Donegal today with 750 people eligible to vote on the county’s five inhabited offshore islands.
Arranmore Island has the highest number of registered voters, Inishfree has the lowest.
There are 513 registered voters on Arranmore Island, with voting taking place today from 10am to 7.30pm at the island’s two polling stations, one at Aphort National School, the other at Leabgarrow National School.
Tory has 141 registered voters, with voting between 11am and 3pm at Tory Island National School.
Inishbofin’s 63 voters can cast their ballots between 11 and 3 at the island’s community centre, while the 29 people on the register on Gola Island can vote between 11 and 3 at the home of James Sweeney.
There’s just a two hour window for Inishfree’s four voters, with the ballot box open at the Donegal County Council premises on the pier from 12.00 noon until 2.00 pm.
