The newest Midlands North West MEP has taken his seat for the first time in Brussels today.
Former Sligo Councillor, Chris MacManus replaces Matt Carthy as Sinn Fein’s sole politician in the European Parliament.
Mr MacManus previously stood for election to the Dáil and says he isn’t ruling out another run in a general election.
He says while becoming an MEP was unexpected, he’s determined to make the best of the job:
