There are crucial ‘top-four’ points at stake at Dalymount Park on Monday night as City travel to take on Bohemians in their re-arranged SSE Airticity League fixture.
The visitors have taken 13 out of a possible 15 points from their previous 5 league games so will certainly travel south with some degree of confidence. On the downside however, Ruaidhri Higgins’ team have been hit with a trio of suspensions ahead of the game.
Joe Thomson’s red card against Finn Harps means the in-form midfielder is automatically ruled out while Danny Lafferty and Cameron McJannet have both reached the ‘five yellows’ mark.
It isn’t great timing for the Foylesiders with their hosts just a point behind and with two games in hand, however the Derry boss insisted his side would be ready for the challenge.
“It’s not ideal to lose three players who have been in great form for us but there are quality players in the squad ready to come in.”
“This will be a really tough game- Bohs are in great form and showed both in Europe and in the big games domestically this season just how good a side they are.”
“They have some of the best young players in the country in their squad but we will still be going there looking for three points.”
“Dalymount Park has been a decent venue for Derry City down through the years. We’ve already won there this season and while Bohs have improved since then, so have we.”
Suspensions aside the Candystripes have no other availability concerns. Marc Walsh is moving ever closer to a return to full fitness, however the winger won’t be considered for this fixture.
