Two hospitalised after rescue off Donegal coast yesterday afternoon

Two people in County Donegal had to be rescued by the coast guard after their boat began taking on water, just off of Owey Island yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public who noticed them in the sea.

Crews from the Bunbeg Coast Guard, Arranmore ALB and the Rescue 118 helicopter assisted with the rescue, transporting the casualties first to waiting emergency services in Magheragallon, before they were transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital for further treatment.

In a statement on social media the Bunbeg Coast Guard said that everyone that visits the coastline should always ensure they have a means of communication to make contact with emergency services.
