The All-Island Strategic Rail Review published

The All-Island Strategic Rail Review has been published.

The joint report by the Department of Transport in Ireland and the Department for Infrastructure in the North sets out the implementation of 32 strategic recommendations up to 2050, at the cost of between €35 and 37 billion.

In Donegal, there is a line proposed to travel from Letterkenny to Derry.

When complete it will be the first rail service in Donegal since the mid-twentieth century.

Following public consultation, the suggestion of a new line to extend into west Donegal was parked on the basis of low demand and impact, while a Donegal to Eniskillen line was also parked based on demand.

The report also revealed that Donegal was among counties with the highest response rate.
