Donegal County Council is urging people to dispose of their waste responsibly.
The Council is reminding members of the public that the burning of domestic, industrial, agricultural and construction waste is an offence under the Waste Management Act.
It is warning that failure to comply can result in prosecution.
The local authority shared a case where a farmer in Waterford was convicted and fined for burning waste.
The farmer was caught burning farm plastics, household and other wastes in his farmyard in March 2023.
They were fined €4,450.
