Rural tourism faces setback as government rejects VAT rate cut

Rural tourism will be worst hit by the Government’s refusal to reduce the hospitality sector’s VAT rate.

That’s according to the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation after hopes the rate would be reduced by 4.5% were dashed yesterday.

It’s claimed the number of bed nights spent by tourists is down this year.
