Up to 6,500 psychiatric nurses will engage in a work to rule from this morning.
The PNA is taking the industrial action after a breakdown in talks with the HSE over the recruitment of core nursing roles in the health service.
It comes ahead of a separate action by other healthcare unions who plan their own work to rule action on Monday.
