A Donegal Doctor says a decision to put Sligo University Hospital forward as the preferred location for a Surgical Hub is health inequality at its most stark.
Dr Pádraig McGuinness is one of 171 doctors demanding an urgent meeting with the Health Minister to address what they describe as a critical threat to patient care and health equality in the North West.
There was much concern after it emerged last month that a case was being put forward to have the Surgical Hub located at Sligo University Hospital.
The group is now seeking a meeting with Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill within the next month, a moratorium on final decisions regarding the Surgical Hub’s location until a fair, evidence-based comparison is completed, and for an independent review of the HSE’s rationale for selecting Sligo University Hospital over Letterkenny.
