Efforts underway to bring World Sheep Shearing Championships to Donegal

Efforts are underway to bring the World Sheep Shearing Championships to Donegal in 2029.

Donegal County Council has agreed to support Clonmany Agricultural Show organisers in their bid to host the event which would see up to 10,000 people attend each day.

The local authority has also urged Failte Ireland to lend its support to the bid given the huge potential it has to showcase Donegal right across the world.

Councillor Martin McDermott says the hosting of the Irish Open in Ballyliffin in 2018 paved the way for major events coming to the county:
