Fanad’s last post office is to close.
The Tirconaill Tribune is reporting that Ballylar Post Office will close in October because it is no longer viable.
The facility has been run by the McElwaine family since 1873, but the paper says recent decisions by An Post have reinforced their decision to step away.
It’s understood An Post will advertise a contract for Fanad.
