National poultry housing order announced to curb bird flu spread


The Department of Agriculture has announced a national housing order for poultry to protect against bird flu.

It will come into effect next Monday.

Over 40 cases of H5N1 have been reported so far this year, the latest affecting a commercial turkey flock in Carlow.

Meanwhile, Fota Wildlife Park will remain closed until the end of the month due to the bird flu outbreak.
