
A number of opposition amendments to the latest Defective Concrete Remediation Bill were lost on the floor of the Dail last night.
The bill was published and presented last week, with dozens of amendments proposed in the interim.
At one point during last night’s debate, Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn compared the initial rush to label the cause of the crumbling blocks in Donegal as Mica to the diagnosis of the wrong cancer.
Meanwhile, 100% Redress Deputy Charles Ward called for the publication of trends and data relating to defective concrete, saying that identifying patterns at an early stage would allow for earlier responses………….
A number of the amendments were geared towards providing what their proposers say would be genuine 100% redress.
Deputy Pearse Doherty said the amount by which many people are falling short is huge, telling TDs many people can’t even think of getting on the bottom rung of the ladder because they haven’t got the money.
