Hospital overcrowding eases as HSE continues to deal with flu

Hospital overcrowding eased today, though dozens of patients are still waiting for beds.

Latest INMO trolly figures show 77 admitted patients nationally waiting for beds this morning. Of those, 12 were in Sligo and five in Letterkenny.

It comes as the HSE had warned flu cases would peak during Christmas week.

Immunologist, Professor Luke O’Neill says this time of year creates a “perfect storm” for flu spread……..
