
Tributes have been flooding social media following the killing of former Donegal Person of the Year, Stephen McCahill.
Mr McCahill was pronounced dead at his home outside Ardara following what Gardaí are describing as a domestic assault.
A man in his 30s has been arrested.
Among those paying tribute is Donegal Deputy Pat “the Cope” Gallagher, who commended his unwavering community spirit.
Local Cllr Anthony Molloy called Mr Mc Cahill a true friend and loyal confidant that has been at his side since 1992.
The Glenties Town Team have described him as a man who genuinely cared about people.
Meanwhile, Ardara GAA club have suspended all club activities, saying they are numb at the loss of their former Chairman, Treasurer, and Community Leader.
