Deputy Pearse Doherty has warned the public of a scam account that is claiming to be him.
The account is attempting to scam people by asking for money.
In a social media post, the Sinn Féin TD said he would never ask anyone for money, bank details, gift cards or any form of payment through social media or messaging apps such as Telegram.
He added that, if you receive a message from him, check that it is from his verified account and, if in doubt, do not respond.
