Derry draw in Waterford as St Pats go top of Premier

Saint Patrick’s Athletic have moved top of the Premier Division of the SSE Airtricity League, now leading the defending champions Shamrock Rovers on goal difference.

Stephen Kenny’s side beat Dundalk 0-4, with Aidan Keena scoring two goals at Oriel Park. Ryan Sheridan and Ryan Edmondson scored the other two.

Rovers do have a game in hand on Pats at the top.

Derry City drew 2-2 with Waterford Utd at the RSC. The Candystrips lead twice in the game, only for the home side to come back on both occasions to force a share of the points.

Adam O’Reilly and Michael Muffy scored the Derry goals in either half. Derry stay 5th in the standings, now three points adrift of Dundalk.

Sligo Rovers edged closer to relegation with the Bit of Red losing 3-1 to Galway United at the Showgrounds.

With Drogheda beating Shelbourne 2-1, Sligo are now 11 points of course at the bottom.
