15 Donegal schools took part in the largest online chess event in Irish history last Friday.
Ireland’s Big Chess Day saw 9,000 children from 251 schools nationwide taught chess live by primary school teacher Tomás Fitzpatrick.
The event ran beginner lessons followed by puzzle competitions between schools, delivered live from one broadcast.
ChessCraft co-founders Tomás Fitzpatrick and Oisín Flynn say they are taken aback by how schools have responded to their project, noting Sessiaghoneill N.S. in Ballybofey in particular to give great feedback.
The Donegal schools who participated were:
Castletown N.S.

Gortnacart N.S.
