10,000 volunteers in 500 locations around the country will take part in the world’s largest coastal clean-up over the weekend.
Last year over 400 clean-ups were organised, with volunteers removing 42 tonnes of marine litter from the Irish coastline.
The Big Beach Clean is also part of a worldwide citizen science project, which entails collating the amount and types of litter on Irish beaches.
25 clean-ups are taking place in Donegal including in Bundoran, Rossnowlagh, Rathmullan, Buncrana and Culdaff.
