An Inishowen councillor says while there is light at the end of the tunnel in the campaign for the restoration of services at Riverwalk House in Carndonagh, the campaign for services at Milltown House has hit another problem with confirmation of the presence of mica in the blocks.
At this week’s meeting of the Regional Health Forum West, Cllr Albert Doherty was told a structural engineers report has identified low levels of MICA which might be addressed in the short term by a re-render of the outer leaf, and the demolition of a small extension.
Extensive upgrades are also needed to all mechanical and electrical.
Cllr Doherty is asking that the necessary works at Milltown House be prioritised, both in terms of respite potential and the use of the hydrotherapy pool there.
