Children attending Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máirstí will have their first day in their new school building today.
The new building was long sought after, with the shovel ready project almost losing it’s tender two years ago after a move by government to pause a number of developments nation wide.
This led to protests and meetings with then Education Minister Norma Foley to ultimately have the decision reversed.
Phase three of the project to see the completion of a special education unit is hoped to be complete by 2026.
Cllr Jimmy Brogan, a member of the board of management at the school, says the new building has been a long time coming.
