John passed away peacefully on Sunday 3rd August 2025, in the tender care of his family at St James Hospital Dublin.
Predeceased by his brothers, James and Mickey and sisters, Sally and Katie.
John will be deeply missed by Brendan, his companion in life and love, his siblings Margaret, Úna, Paddy, Sheila, Bernard, Fr Danny and Columba. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his extended family, neighbours, past colleagues and students, and his many friends.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
A funeral service to take place on Tuesday 5th August at 12 noon in The Church of Mary Immaculate, Refuge of Sinners, Rathmines, Co. Dublin. John’s remains will then travel to St Columba’s Church, Massmount, Fanad, Co. Donegal, arriving at 8pm, to repose overnight.
Requiem Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday 6th August, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.
Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, to Merchants Quay Ireland or The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association care of any family member.
