Cllr raises closure of Dromore footbridge ahead of Twin Town works

A local councillor says he and fellow representatives were unaware of the reasons why the footbridge beside Dromore National School had been closed.

Cllr Patrick McGowan said the bridge has been partially shut for several weeks, with the half of the road being turned into a pedestrian zone, while traffic lights at the site have proven problematic.

It has now been revealed that the bridge’s foundations need to be investigated, which requires low river levels that have not yet occurred.

Cllr McGowan said the issue must be resolved before major traffic disruption begins in the Twin Towns during a planned six-month roadworks programme:
