The sudden and unexpected death has taken place in Graz, Austria of the well known traditional singer Bríd Ní Mhaoileoin, in hospital after a short illness.
Bríd was raised in Downings but had spent many years in Galway and Graz.
She performed in her youth with her siblings in the family band Ceoltóirí Ghoill before launching a solo career in music and broadcasting.
Predeceased by her parents Brian and Caitlín, she is survived and missed by her much loved son Oisín, her longtime special friend/former partner Austrian artist Manfred Url, two sisters Caoimhe and Máire and their daughters, her brothers Pádraig and Brian, her soul sister Marta, as well as a large family circle and her many friends in music and in life in every corner of the world.
A private funeral service and cremation will take place in Graz.
