More than 11,000 people in Donegal receiving working age income supports

More than 11,000 people are in receipt of working-age income supports in Donegal.

This is according to data released by the Department of Social Protection.

Of the 11,068 people accessing working-age income supports, the majority are receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance, with 5,889.

Meanwhile, 1,368 people are receiving One-Parent Family Payment.

742 people are accessing Farm Assist payments.

677 people are receiving Jobseeker’s Transitional Payment.

667 people are getting Jobseeker’s Benefit, which includes self-employed people, Benefit Payment for 65-year-olds, and Short-Time Work Support, while 568 are getting Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit.

339 people are in receipt of the Basic Supplementary Welfare Allowance.

Meanwhile, 620 people receive Maternity Benefit, 13 receive Paternity Benefit, and 185 receive Parent’s Benefit.

The Department of Social Protection noted that the figures for Paternity Benefit and Parent’s Benefit recipients and beneficiaries were artificially small at the end of the calendar year because it was close to a major holiday period.
