Letterkenny councillor stresses need for replacement haemotology consultant

Letterkenny Town Council will this week call on the HSE to immediately employ a Haematology Consultant in Letterkenny General Hospital to replace the one who recently vacated the position.
The issue has been placed on the agenda by Cllr Tadhg Culbert, who is himself in remission from leukemia. He says many people in Donegal need this service, and fears if a replacement is not employed soon, people will have to go elsewhere for treatment, and that is unacceptable.
The issue will be discussed tomorrow, when the council’s meeting reconvenes.
Cllr Culbert says it’s too important a service to lose.
