Council to ask residents to keep wheelie bins out of sight

Letterkenny Town Council is to write to residents association across the town following claims by a councillor that people leaving wheelie bins out all week are damaging Letterkenny’s image.
The issue was raised at last night’s meeting of the council by Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh.
He has been urging residents to put their wheelie bins at the back of their houses, out of sight.
He said he was sick of people leaving their rubbish bins at the front of their homes all week.
Now the council says it is to ask residents associations to advise their members to take their bins off the front of their property, except on collection days.
The council was also asked to advise residents associations of any help the local authority can provide for estate clean-ups.
Councillor Kavanagh was told that bags are available at the Town Council front desk for any spring clean-ups and collection details can be arranged with the council.
