Donegal South-West Deputy Thomas Pringle is backing moves to allow An Post offer basic bank accounts at all its branches.
Deputy Pringle, a member of the Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture, says that the Post Office is an ideal location for a basic bank account as there is one in every community.
He says a Basic Payment Account would ensure that everyone has access to a bank account, and protect the viability of rural post offices…………
