Fianna Fail: Councillor Frank McBrearty ‘not fit to be mayor’

Fianna Fail in Donegal has confirmed that the party will be proposing Cllr Rena Donaghey for the position of Mayor of the county next Mondays AGM of the council.
It had been speculated in recent weeks that controversial Labour councillor Frank McBrearty would get the top post, succeeding Fine Gael’s Noel McBride.
In order to block the Labour Cllr becoming Mayor it would require either Sinn Fein or four independents breaking an inter-party pact that selects the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Just a fortnight ago Sinn Fein said they would have no problem if Cllr McBrearty was elected as the next Mayor.
But Fianna Fails Cheif Whip on the Council, Cllr Ciaran Brogan said he doesn’t believe Cllr McBreaty is fit to be the next Mayor:
