A Letterkenny Town Councillor has urged those intending to apply for a Home Insulation Grant to ensure they have recieved the grant before having any work done.
The grants are available under the better energy homes scheme but the application for a grant must be made by the homeowner themselves; it cannot be made on their behalf by the contractor.
Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh says he has spoken to a number of people who have had expensive work done believing they would recieve a grant but ended up not qualifying:
